2. Overview
We build software, not surveillance. TailBeat does not collect personal data about your identity and does not track you across apps or services. We collect only the minimum data necessary to operate and improve the product.
3. Your logs stay on your machine
TailBeat reads the macOS unified log via log stream, logs from Apple devices and Simulators you connect, and any .logarchive you open. It stores captured entries in a local database on your Mac so it can page through millions of rows quickly. That log data stays on your machine, and you can clear it at any time. TailBeat does not transmit your logs to us or to anyone else.
TailBeatKit runs inside your own app to attach source location and metadata to messages; that data flows into TailBeat on your machine, not to us. The MCP server exposes your local logs only to AI coding tools you explicitly point at it, running locally - TailBeat does not send your logs to any AI provider itself.
4. Usage data & analytics (Pandalytics)
To understand how the app is used and to improve it, TailBeat processes a small amount of anonymous usage data with Pandalytics - LeanBytes' own privacy-first behavioural monitoring system. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking, and we never sell your data.
Pandalytics is private by architecture:
- No IP addresses, no device IDs, no cookies.
- A random installation hash is the only identifier, and it cannot be reversed to a person.
- Data is processed on EU infrastructure and is not sold or shared with external analytics providers.
The anonymous data points may include:
- feature usage (e.g. actions performed) and timestamps
- app version and operating-system version
- device type (e.g. desktop or mobile)
- coarse geographic region (e.g. country)
This data is not used to identify you as a person. You can opt out of data collection at any time in TailBeat's settings.
This website uses privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics to measure aggregate traffic: Plausible (self-hosted) and Ahrefs Web Analytics. It may also send anonymous Pandalytics signals (for example, that a download button was clicked). None of these set cookies, collect personal data, or track you across sites, so no cookie banner is needed.
5. What we do not collect
- your name, email, or personal identity (unless you contact us)
- your logs, or the contents of files you open
- precise location data
- cross-app or cross-service tracking data, or behavioural profiles
6. Payments
Paid licenses are processed by third-party providers - Lemon Squeezy (merchant of record) and Stripe. We do not receive or store your payment details. We may receive limited transaction information (such as name, email, billing country, and purchase details) for license management, support, and legal compliance.
7. Software updates
TailBeat checks for new versions using Sparkle, which requests a signed update feed (appcast.xml) over HTTPS. That request is a standard web download and does not include your logs or personal data.
8. Legal basis (EU/EEA)
We process anonymous usage data under legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) - namely understanding how the app is used and improving performance and usability. Data is minimised, no personal identification is performed, and no profiling takes place.
9. Data retention
We retain analytics data only as long as necessary to analyse usage trends and improve the product. Data may be aggregated or deleted over time.
10. Data security
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect data against unauthorised access or misuse.
11. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access your data, request deletion, or object to processing. To exercise your rights, contact privacy@leanbytes.io.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The authority competent for LeanBytes is the Landesbeauftragter für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Baden-Württemberg (LfDI BW), Lautenschlagerstraße 20, 70173 Stuttgart, Germany.
12. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Updates will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
